**Boulter Shines in Marathon Day at Queen’s; Raducanu Advances**
It was a day of high drama at the Queen’s Club as Katie Boulter pulled off the upset of the tournament, taking down world number two Elena Rybakina to book a spot in the semi-finals.
For Boulter, the day was a test of pure endurance. Ranked 73rd in the world, the British wildcard first cruised past Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian 6-1, 6-3 in the morning. She then returned to the grass in the evening for a grueling showdown against Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion. Despite the physical toll, Boulter stayed sharp, ultimately prevailing 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 after more than two and a half hours of intense play.
Rybakina had her own busy schedule, having earlier ended Tatjana Maria’s title defense in a three-set thriller. However, she couldn’t find a way past a determined Boulter, who now prepares for a semi-final clash against Croatia’s Donna Vekic, who navigated her own tough three-set win over Karolina Pliskova.
Elsewhere, Emma Raducanu continued her strong form, moving into the quarter-finals for the second year in a row with a composed 6-4, 6-2 victory over the seventh-seeded Sorana Cirstea. The win carried extra significance for the British number one, who had fallen to Cirstea in a final earlier this season.
"Earlier in the year she beat me, but I'm glad I could get her back at home as well," Raducanu said following her first victory over a top-20 opponent in over a year. "I think I played a really high level. I knew I had to."
Raducanu is set to play her delayed quarter-final match on Saturday against Kamilla Rakhimova, who reached the final eight by defeating Harriet Dart. The winner of that encounter will face Iva Jovic in the semi-finals, following the American’s impressive 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win over former Wimbledon runner-up Amanda Anisimova.
