Kalinskaya battles past Potapova to reach French Open quarter-finals
<p>Kalinskaya clinched a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(7) victory after two hours and 49 minutes on Court Suzanne Lenglen against 28th-seeded Austrian Potapova.</p><p>The 27-year-old Kalinskaya, whose only previous Slam quarter-final appearance came at the 2024 Australian Open, will face either Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska or Frenchwoman Diane Parry in the last eight on Wednesday.</p><p><strong>"It was an unbelievable fight from both of us until the last second," </strong>said Kalinskaya.</p><p>Potapova fought back from 4-1 down to take control of a nervy deciding set, but twice failed to serve out for the match.</p><p>The 25-year-old, who switched allegiance from Russia to Austria last December, also took a 4-1 lead in the final-set tie-break before making a string of unforced errors to give up the advantage.</p><p><strong>Follow the women's side at Roland Garros here.</strong></p>
