French Open: Arnaldi takes down Tiafoe in thriller after Sabalenka storms past Osaka
<p><strong>01:15 CET </strong>- Matteo Arnaldi advances to his first Grand Slam quarter-final after defeating Frances Tiafoe 7(7)-6(5), 6(5)-7(7). 3-6, 7(7)-6(3), 6-4.</p><p>The match was the second-longest of the tournament after going for five hours and 30 minutes, also the longest of Arnaldi's career.</p><p><strong>00:01 CET - </strong>It looked as if we were going to go our first day of this year's tournament without a five-setter on the men's side of the draw, but Matteo Arnaldi had other ideas!</p><p>The Italian looked dead and buried not long ago, trailing Frances Tiafoe 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 4-1, but he then went and won three games in a row before clinching the fourth in a tiebreak to take the clash into a decider.</p><p>The two have been battling for just under four and a half hours, and the final set has yet to start. This tournament just keeps on giving.</p><p><strong>22:09 CET - </strong>Sabalenka storms into the last eight!</p><p>The world number one produced an extremely professional performance to see off the threat of Osaka, beating the Japanese player 7-5, 6-3 in just under 90 minutes.</p><p>Osaka held her own for much of the match and can be very happy with the tournament she's played, but Sabalenka was just too strong on the night, particularly on her serve, with her losing just six points on her first serve and facing just one break point.</p><p><strong>20:20 CET - </strong>And now for the night's main event, a clash between world number one Aryna Sabalenka and four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka.</p><p>Sabalenka has won four of the five matches between the two, including two this season, but when they contested their only clay-court clash in Rome a month ago, Osaka more than held her own, taking the first set.</p><p>The Belarusian is undoubtedly the favourite, but it's not a foregone conclusion.</p><p><strong>Follow every point of the match here.</strong></p><p><strong>19:37 CET -</strong> Fourth seed <strong>Felix Auger-Aliassime</strong> is also through to the last eight in Paris, with the Canadian proving too strong for Chile's Alejandro Tabilo in a 6-3, 7-5, 6-1 triumph.</p><p>The 25-year-old is the highest remaining seed in the men's draw, and he produced an accomplished display on Court Philippe-Chatrier, winning 81% of points behind his first serve while converting five of six break-point opportunities.</p><p>Auger-Aliassime will next face Flavio Cobolli for a place in the semi-finals.
