<p>The Danish FA confirm on their website that Kent Nielsen has been named the new assistant coach of the Danish men's national team.</p><p>Kent Nielsen, who was part of the Danish squad that won the European championships in 1992, has signed a two-year contract.</p><p>National team coach Brian Riemer praises the appointment:</p><p><strong>"Kent Nielsen is a great asset who fits perfectly into the team I wanted to assemble with different skills. With Morten Wieghorst's departure, I wanted an assistant coach with a lot of experience, and Kent Nielsen also shares the same offensive approach to the game as me, which is why I have chosen him as the new assistant coach for my team ahead of many strong candidates."</strong></p><p>"Kent Nielsen is also a legend in the Danish national team and knows what it means to wear the red shirt and represent the entire Danish population. It is a very strong addition to the team,' says Riemer.</p><p>64-year-old Kent Nielsen has been in charge of more than 600 Superliga matches with Horsens, AaB, Brondby, OB, and most recently Silkeborg.</p><p>Kent Nielsen takes up his new job during the summer holidays.</p><p>Thus, his first task will be Denmark's international match in September, when the opponent is Norway away in the Nations League.</p>
